 Mel and I were colleagues in the Department of Justice for a number of years and I thoroughly enjoyed working with her.  Mel has a genuine team approach and brings the best out of those she works with. I saw her leadership team grow and develop under her stewardship. They learnt how to work as a collective, understand risk and how to mitigate this as public servants and community members.  Mel also bought these skills to the Community Corrections General Manager’s leadership group, particularly as we navigated the pandemic and transitioned to remote working arrangements.  Mel has a great sense of humour, listens and encourages growth in those she works with.  She is balanced and a great role model who is warm, genuine and an inspiring lady keen to guide and bring the best out of you.
